THE SHOULDER ARTHROPLASTY BOOK

Department of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery
University at Buffalo Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine

This website has been created to serve as an instructional tool detailing important aspects of evaluating patients with glenohumeral arthritis and who have undergone shoulder arthroplasty. We start with a brief introduction in which we discuss basic concepts of glenohumeral arthritis. Each section will outline various aspects of treating patients with glenohumeral arthritis including a brief introduction, pre-op imaging analysis, operative planning, operative technique, post-op radiographic assessment, and supplemental materials. The pre-operative radiographic analysis and planning sections will have practice problems which may be downloaded and opened via the DICOM viewer, and an answer key.

We intend this website to be principally for orthopaedic residents and fellows, and our goal is to create an easily accessible instructional tool with workbook style cases that may be useful in learning the basic concepts of evaluating and treating patients with glenohumeral arthritis.

It is also our intent to continually expand the content available so that it acts as an all-encompassing tool for treatment of glenohumeral arthritis and shoulder arthroplasty.
